RWA 173 Annual Open
For this year's Open I will be exhibiting two works from a series titled Shadowliths: Shadowlith 6 & 8.
These are multiple shadows of stones from the Parallels Project, drawn in ink. Eleven stones spaning 500 million years and all the major gelological time periods. In this series I placed a stone on the paper under a studio light, traced its shadow and then turned it untill it found a natural resting balance and then drew the next shadow, This process was repeated under different self imposed rules for each individual drawing, untill the drawing found a natural balance or the prescribes number of turns had been met. There is a high degree of chance involved in these drawings and I was looking closly at the drawings of John Cage at the time.
