I’m delighted to have been asked by @h_a_r_d_p_a_i_n_t_i_n_g to be part of Sluice Expo 2025. Along with many other artists, I was given postcards of Seydisfjordur and asked to alter them.
In this increasingly digital world, the analog aspect of amending and sending a postcard bears weight. This exhibition was inspired by Dieter Roth who played an important role in the cultural life of Seydisfjordur and was a resident in this small town where he exchanged altered postcards with other international artists.
My two altered postcards attempt to engage with the elevation of the Sun at its zenith on both Midsummer‘s Day and the winter solstice - extremes of daylight hours in this northerly location in eastern Iceland.
This is the 11th edition of Sluice’s peripatetic International Expo, focusing on World-Building through 17 projects which will exhibit over 200 artists in 11 venues from 23rd to 25th May 2025.
