Wednesday 25th September was an important day as we broke ground on the site, establishing our planning permision granted in 2021. Lord Devonport cut the first sod of earth followed by an excavator to do the meat of the work, opening up the verge and laying ten metres of a tarmac 'bellmouth' which marks the entrance to the site.
These are merely the enabling works, a planning condition fulfilled - it is not yet the start of the major construction, which we are in the process of galvanising, but is never the less a milestone in the project, showing our undiluted intent for this landmark sculpture.
