Frieze Sculpture 2025: 'In The Shadows'

17 September - 2 November 2025
Overview

I am honoured to be exhibiting in Frieze Sculpture 2025.  The 13th iteration of this much-celebrated annual public art event features 14 leading international artists, whose sculptures are positioned throughout the historic English Gardens.

Curated by Fatos Ustek, the theme for Frieze Sculpture 2025 is 'In The Shadows', broadly engaging with the notion of darkness from multiple perspectives, such as inner darkness, the realm of the unseen or the interplay between clarity and obsurity. When viewed end on, this cast concrete sculpture has the height and width of a human being, and gives form to the negative, liminal space of a shadow. This is the cast of a rock’s dawn shadow, recording the most fleeting and ephemeral moment when the sun crested the horizon, due east on the equinox. It explores extremes of time: geological time, celestial time and human time. By viewing the ancient and craggy interior at one end and then one’s own captured form in the flat polished opposite, it allows us to comprehend the deep time of rocks and to a shine a light upon our own short lifespan.

Working in collaboration with my gallery CLOSE, this much celebrated public art initiative coincides with Frieze London and Frieze Masters, which take place concurrently in The Regent's Park, 15 - 19 October.
