Congregation: The Chapel, Tuckingmill, Tisbury

Congregation brings together the work of 8 members of the Royal Society of Sculptors – Nicola Anthony, Barbara Bayer, Laura Ford, Simon Hitchens, Rebecca Newnham, Mark Richards, Amy Stephens, and Almuth Tebbenhoff. The exhibition is curated by Jacquiline Creswell. In addition, dancefilm maker Lizzie Sykes is sharing film and there will be performance by composer Karen Wimhurst

Its a delight to be showing four works alongside fellow sculptors from the Royal Society of Sculptors. These three drawings originate from shadows of stones found local to my Somerset studio. I set up a system of prescribed rules and let them run, not knowing how the final drawing will appear. The sculpture is the noontide shadow cast of an ancient and now absent rock: capturing the very briefest of moments in time, it records celestial time, geological time and human time.
