ORBIT

This 80pp litho printed and stitch bound book records the twelve durational day drawings which make up the one work titled Orbit. Over the course of a year I visted the same geographical location at the same time each month and made a drawing using the same stone which was found at the site's location.

The drawings within the book explore time and transience; human time, geological time and celestial time, not only of the greatly fluctuating length of days during a calander year, but also of planet Earth as it orbits around the sun. The second half of the book is populated with the Indicator photographs. These are photos made at the end of each day as I'm about to leave the site. They record the hundreds of footprints made by my many circumnavigations of the drawing table throught the course of each day's drawing. The ancient stone whose shadows I have traced in each drawing is now absent, a phenomena echoed within the footprints in the landscape made by my quasi ritualistic creative acts.

The book is centred around a contextualising essay by Lizzie Lloyd, fleshing out the multi layered aspect of this work.

PARALLELS

This 84pp book was published to accompany the exhibition Parallels held at Somerset Rural Life Museum, Glastonbury 2023.  It unfolds the multi-layered project which resulted in the exhibition, exploring celestial time, geological time and human, through the making of durational day drawings and cast iron sculptures. It explains my vision, concept, journey and ambition of this wide-reaching project. A significant part of the project, and therefore the art, was the recording on Instagram in real time, the making of these drawings - this aspect of my engagement with landscape has now been made manifest through this publication.

A reference source for commissioning

This 74pp publication is designed as a tool to aid commissioning agencies, councils, property developers, architects and individuals engaged with commissioning public art. It explores ten of my public commissions around the UK, focussing on People, Place and Practice. It also explores my attention to detail with regards to materials and making, project management and installation. In short, it demonstrates how I can hold a commissioners hand through the entire process of commissioning and installing successful public art.
